7 Ways to Prepare Your Digital-Self for Vacation

…ok so you are ready for your vacation, you booked hotel(s), you know where to go and what you want to do, everything nicely packaged, right? Well hold on for a minute and check few more things in your bag before you go.

  • GPS – in case you are planning to drive a car in new places it’s good to remember about the map. So you can sit down and check the paper-maps or use Google Maps (you can always print the plan of your trip(s) just in case if your electronic devices won’t work). If you decide to get GPS device then I suggest to add all locations (places where you plan to go) to your GPS device before you hit the road, such as: airports, hotels, etc. so you know exactly how to get there.

  • camera + extra batteries + charger – I guess you would like to take beautiful pictures during vacation to show them to your friends later. So make sure there is nothing wrong with your camera (take few testing pictures during the day outside and inside the house and in the evening as well). Choose the camera according to your abilities – truth is you can take very nice pictures using simple digital camera but of course you can choose something with many more features for pros.

  • USB Flash Drive – it’s a portable data storage device. You never know where and when you might need it. You can plug it in to your laptop to transfer data (files, photos, videos). USB flash drive come in different shapes and sizes.

  1. Great post for me today because tomorrow starts . . . VACAY!!  Thanks!

    •  @MarthaGiffen nice, have fun! Are you taking any hi-tech gadgets with you on vacation or it’s time to turn-off and step away for a while? 🙂

  2. Good suggestions and behind all those tools should be a written plan to conserve your resources of time, energy, money and emotions.

    Great list!
I recently went on vacation to a cabin in the woods with no internet access.  My prep included scheduling posts to my top social media accounts to keep them active while I was out of touch.

    •  @TheResumeSmith You did very important thing – you scheduled posts. I have to admit that before I go somewhere (on vacation) I make sure if there is internet connection 😉

  4. What a comprehensive list, Klaudia, and how well prepared you are for your holidays! The most annoying thing when travelling in Europe are the different plugs used in many countries, so when travelling abroad make sure you have a set of adapters as well.

Scheduling posts – caught in the act, thanks for the gentle reminder!

    •  @Late_Bloomers thank you Barbara for your comment and reminder about set of adapters – you are so right, in case people plan to travel abroad it’s good to remember about that tiny thing. And it way much cheaper to buy it in regular supermarket than at the airport.

And… don’t forget to have a foursquare profile too… 🙂 Disney & Universal (July 22), here we come!

    •  @dwaynekilbourne Foursquare – absolutely yes to check-in places! And maybe Instagram app (photo sharing application for iPhone and Android) as well?

Disney? wow, very very nice 🙂

  6. No No, don’t make me get off the computer for longer than a few hours!  LOL
